The Best Hybrid Cars Of 2015

A lot of people love to be able to never worry about where the nearest gas station is again. This is a fantastic luxury, both in terms of money saved and in terms of going green. All vehicles now do have some sort of enhanced fuel economy system, but hybrids still have that little bit extra to give, as do electric vehicles. Basically, a hybrid is a great entry level vehicle that allows consumers to lower the impact of their engine until it is almost nonexistent. Electric vehicles, obviously, do not have any gasoline impact at all. Simply put, hybrids are more affordable to drive, more practical in the long run and far kinder for our planet in a myriad of different ways. So here are what we believe are the best hybrid cars of 2015:

1. Chevrolet Volt

The Chevrolet Volt looks like a car that cares about the planet. However, this doesn’t make it any less nice to drive. No, it won’t do 0-60 in a fraction of a second, but it will get you places. It has 149 horsepower on its electric motor that allows you to drive for 38 miles on all electric. Once that has been used up, the four cylinder engine starts to work on gas in order to recharge the battery. You won’t notice this is happening at all. The vehicle itself is full of nifty gadgets, which is a lot of fun, although the fabrics and materials could be of better quality.

2. BMW i3 Hatchback

BMW has brought some fantastic vehicles to our market and their i3 hatchback is no different. It is as green as a full electric, using the petrol motor only to charge the battery. This means that it can run 470 miles per gallon and has incredibly low emissions. Additionally, it is a good looking, spacious and very comfortable vehicle. It also doesn’t have a B pillar, so it is easy to get in and out of. The construction is very lightweight and it has been crash tested by Euro NCAP, which says a lot about its safety.

3. Honda Civic Hybrid

The Honda Civic Hybrid has a 1.5 liter engine with 90hp, as well as an overdrive 2 speed CVT transmission. It has a fantastic ABS system, side airbags (SmartVent), overhead airbags, automatic air conditioning, occupancy sensors, cruise control and 15″ aluminum wheels, which look absolutely amazing. This is a great looking car with fantastic specifications.

4. Ford C-Max Hybrid / Energi

The C-Max is a little bit like a compact crossover, only better. It’s not quite a wagon, not quite a hybrid, but basically in a category of its own. It has a very good miles per gallon rating, which makes it popular, but its looks are also out of this world. It is very spacious, even for larger adults, has very responsive handling and is fully compliant with all necessary safety and emissions standards. The downside is that it doesn’t have much cargo space, which is unexpected from what is effectively a large vehicle.

5. Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV SUV

One of the reasons why the Outlander is such a fantastic hybrid is that it is incredibly affordable. Indeed, it is only marginally more expensive than the standard diesel model. It is a hugely economic vehicle and has one of the lowest emissions of all hybrid cars on the market today. The battery alone will allow it to run for 32.5 miles. Unfortunately, there is no seven seat option, which you can get with the regular diesel model. Additionally, it has less boot space.

6. Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid

The Jetta has been a popular Volkswagen model for many years. Its Hybrid SEL Premium, however, is something completely new. It has a 1.4 liter I-4 engine, which has 150hp. It is intercooled turbo and has a manual 7 speed transmission as well as overdrive. Its ABS system is amazing and it comes with various airbags and occupancy sensors, a navigation system as standard, Climatronic air conditioning, cruise control, traction control and 17″ aluminum wheels, which means you can really show this vehicle off.

7. Lexus CT

Finally, there is the Lexus CT. No list of best cars could be complete without adding at least one luxury car and Lexus has been able to deliver on both luxury and fuel efficiency. This vehicle has the same hybrid technology as that what is found in the Toyota Prius, which means it has fantastic fuel economy and very low emissions. However, unlike the Prius, it is also a vehicle that you are willing to be seen in. Unfortunately, the CT isn’t overly fast at the minute, although the F Sport option does liven up the handling, offers better suspension and makes the wheels look even better.
